Mourinho Not the Special One for Manchester United

For years, Manchester United fans have sat on their high-horses, looking down at those petty clubs who change managers as regularly as Katie Price changes husbands. Even Arsenal occasionally suffer doubts over the long-standing Arsene Wenger. Yet, with Sir Alex Ferguson entering his 70th year, how much longer can these fans stay perched up high? To steal one of Ferguson’s most famous quotes, they could be knocked off their perch in the near future. As a line in French film La Haine goes, it isn’t the fall that matters, but the landing. What matters is which manager is chosen to replace arguably the greatest in footballing history.

The Manchester Derby: 12/2/11

The Manchester Derby has turned out many classics in the past, most memorable, at least in United’s eyes, is the 4-3 epic at Old Trafford last season. However, under Mancini there has been less action on show, with City’s style of play much more defensive. This could be an exception though, with many city players, most of all ex-red Carlos Tevez, sure to be fired up for this one. This will hopefully result in a game to remember!

With the void which the retirement of long-serving right back has created looking to be filled in the long term by the consistently maturing young Brazilian, Rafael da Silva, the pressing issue for the club and its future must surely be securing a suitable replacement for the great Edwin van der Sar, who recently announced his retirement, having served for 6 seasons at Manchester United.

Sir Alex Ferguson will be looking to replace this older generation of the squad with a younger goalkeeper of great promise, who have also proven themselves to be ready and capable to cope with the trials and tribulations of the Premier League.
